Education programmes achieve results

Auckland Airport have successfully worked with schools in our community for years through a range of education programmes. Together we have achieved great results for the schools, their students and our communities. We are proud to work with our young New Zealanders as we strive to empower and support them through education.

Aorere College mentoring programme

Auckland Airport began a student mentoring programme - Airbridge- with Aorere College in 1993 and we have never looked back!

Through the programme, students with academic potential work with an Auckland Airport ‘mentor’ towards broadening their career aspirations. Mentors include managers, administration staff, firemen and tradespeople. (Some staff members are former Aorere College students!)

Activities include:

  • goal setting 
  • time management 
  • life values
  • tertiary life and career choices
  • public speaking
  • team development.

Auckland Airport also provides scholarship funds to Aorere College.

Online learning school children

New Zealand children have no excuses for not knowing everything about airports, thanks to an airport educational website.

A group of teachers joined Auckland Airport to help develop the online resource and ensure it is linked to the new curriculum and its key competencies

School tours
